The Choice Is NOT Yours
My liberal friends (few and far between) chuckle at the notion that liberties and freedoms are being taken away. This sounds like right-wing conspiracy garbage to them.
I ask them if they want to swing by the local bar and knock back a few whiskey drinks down our gullets and I get a confused look as that adventure would be met with a few challenges ... Depending on where exactly you live, the bar may be closed entirely, have extremely limited (and socially distant) seating or one of many other arbitrary rules – my favorite is that masks must be worn while standing or making your way into the bar/restaurant. But, as soon as you sit down you can remove the protective fabric from your face. Because everyone knows COVID is afraid of people who are seated and/or eating and drinking.
It's science.
This is freedom being taken away or, at the very least, manipulated.
If a business owner, like in the case above, a restaurant owner, CHOOSES to take the so-called risk of being open to serve customers and I, a willing and able patron, CHOOSE to physically come in and throw down some whiskey drinks there should be nothing standing in the way. That is our CHOICE! Not the government’s or local municipality’s.
But what about those poor employees that are potentially getting exposed? What if they take it home to grandma? What if…
No one, no employer can force their work force to come to work. That hasn't changed. The employee(s) have choices as well. Work, or don’t.
These are called calculated risks – PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and ACCOUNTABILITY.
Look, this is simple.
If you or someone you may interact with has comprised health, then do what you need to do to protect them and yourself.
If you are of good health, willing and able I believe you should get back to work, what you love and live your life.
We are constantly surrounded by potentially harmful things. As smart folks we need to make the best decisions for our families and get back to living life.
What we are currently doing is not living… merely existing.
